Brittney Shipp Brittney Shipp is a children’s book author, STEM advocate, and nationally recognized, Emmy Award-winning and eight-time Emmy-nominated TV meteorologist. She is the author of The Meteorologist in Me (2016), which has reached over 35,000 students, and Drippity Drop, The Rapping Raindrop (2025), a fun, educational book and weather rap song. Through her STEM-focused books, Brittney inspires young women and all students to explore weather and science careers while encouraging them to take steps toward making their dreams a reality.

Originally from Los Angeles, California, Brittney earned her undergraduate degree from UCLA and a Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. Her broadcasting career spans nearly two decades, including national appearances on MSNBC’s Early Today, First Look, and Morning Joe. Brittney’s field reporting has taken her across the country—from chasing monsoon and dust storms in Phoenix to tracking snowstorms and tornadoes in Philadelphia—and even flying over 700 mph with the Blue Angels. After serving as Chief Meteorologist at KRON4 News in the Bay Area, she has called Philadelphia home since 2018.

Brittney combines her love of storytelling, science, and education to create engaging experiences for students, showing that learning about weather and STEM can be exciting, interactive, and full of possibilities.
